Operation Black Friday

Sometimes it's the little things.  Like Krispy Kreme donuts at 4:15 in the morning.

Today, a group from our Crossway Church Launch Team headed over to Target in Plantation to hand out free donuts to the several hundred people waiting in line for Black Friday bargains.  We had the opportunity to pass out over 400 free donuts along with invitations to Crossway Church.  The outreach turned out to be a fun and memorable time, both for us and for those who we gave the donuts to!

At Crossway, it's important for us to serve the community - in big and small ways.  Our lives of service reflect the reality that God has served us in so many ways - most importantly through sending His Son Jesus to come to the earth and die for our sins.  It's our hope that as we continue to think through creative ways to serve our community, we would be known as a church that loves others in word and deed.

Getting the word out...

Yesterday, we spent the day at the 53rd Annual Plantation Firefighter's BBQ in Plantation.  Crossway Church was one of the sponsors of the event.  As a way to connect with some of the people in the community, we were giving away free pictures with our giant Crossway Church Turkey Mascot.  We had one of our photographers take the picture and we will be mailing them and emailing them out to the families this week.  It was a lot of fun for us, and a great way for us to continue to introduce ourselves to the community around us. Below are a few snapshots from the event.

Preview Service Recap

We had a great Preview Service this past Sunday! Here are a few of my thoughts about how things went.

  • I'm proud of all of the hard work the CWC Launch Team did to make Sunday a success.  They really put their hearts into serving this weekend!  From Kids, to Sound, to setup & teardown, to greeting - everyone served hard and I believe God was pleased.

  • The Crossway Kids workers did an excellent job serving the kids while the parents were in the service.  We even had a couple of volunteers help us out from our sending church, West Pines (Thanks Kristen and Lauren!)

  • The Worship Team was awesome!  Jimmy and the team led the congregation in God-centered worship and executed the music well.

  • We learned some things about setting up and tearing down in this space.  We definitely need some more dollys to move our equipment in quicker!

  • We had a nice crowd join us.  It was a mixed group of Launch Team Members, friends and family, and people who had been invited.  I'm thankful for everyone who came to show their support for CWC!

Celebration Meeting Recap

Hello everyone!  Last Friday night we had our second gathering as a Launch Team (which we're calling Celebration Meetings).  Jimmy Purchase and company did an excellent job in leading us in worship and then we spent some time talking through one of our Core Values - the Gospel.

We believe that the Gospel must be central to everything that we do as a church.  And since a church is made up of people, we want every person who is a part of Crossway Church to live Gospel-centered lives.  What does that look like?  It's simple.

As a Church:  When we gather together for Sunday worship, we will weekly share the Gospel as a regular part of our Gathering.  (By the Gospel I mean both the Bad News that we are sinners and that God must punish our sin and the Good News that God loves us so much that He provided a substitute to bear our punishment, His Son Jesus Christ.)

As Individuals:  We must keep at the front of our minds the reality that God has strategically placed us wherever we are as a missionary.  So, if you're a teacher, God has called you to be a missionary to your friends in the faculty.  If you are a business man, God has called you to be a missionary to your colleagues.  If you are a stay-at-home mom, God has called you to be a missionary to the other moms that you meet and interact with.  That's one of the ways we make the Gospel central in our lives as individuals.
